Ouimet Canyon

My brother has given me permission to publish a few of his poems here. This one, entitled "Ouimet Canyon" was published in a chapbook called Migrations (Linnaea Press, 2001).
A question yawns
the forest bedrock.

Poplar buds hover
like warm breath around the branches.

Record of time and temperature:
how many zeros will it hold?

Welcome: a room in a house anyone
may come to, a room that makes you:

the way that rock was split, awed,
mouth filled with rare plants and meltwater.
